Data and Reproducibility
Research Horizon is dedicated to upholding the principles of transparency, scientific rigor, and reproducibility in all research we publish. We recognize the importance of open science and the reliability of scientific findings, and therefore follow best practices for data availability and adhere to recognized reporting guidelines. Our journal is committed to promoting transparency, enabling readers to verify and replicate results, and ensuring that the research we publish contributes to advancing scientific knowledge. Additionally, we strictly follow the Core Practices outlined by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
1. Data Availability
We strongly encourage authors to make all data underlying their research publicly available to ensure that the results can be verified and reproduced. Authors should provide clear and comprehensive details about the data collection, methodology, and analysis used in their research.
Quantitative research: Authors should deposit datasets in reputable data repositories or provide direct links to the data within the article to make the data accessible.
Qualitative research: Authors must provide a detailed description of data sources and methods, including representative examples or excerpts when applicable.
If, for any reason, data cannot be made publicly accessible due to legal or ethical concerns, authors must clearly explain these concerns and provide a mechanism for requesting access to the data.
2. Reporting Guidelines
To ensure the clarity, consistency, and transparency of published research, authors should follow the relevant reporting guidelines specific to their study design. This not only enhances the readability and comprehensibility of the research but also helps reviewers and editors assess the validity of the study.
Clinical trials: For studies involving human participants, including clinical trials, authors are required to register their research in an appropriate clinical trial registry before participant enrollment.
We adhere to the World Health Organization’s (WHO) International Clinical Trials Registry Platform (ICTRP) principles and encourage the registration of clinical trials according to international standards, ensuring ethical and transparent conduct in clinical research.
3. Reproducibility
Reproducibility is a cornerstone of scientific progress. Authors must provide detailed methodologies, protocols, and analysis strategies, as well as information that allows other researchers to replicate and validate the study's findings. This level of detail enhances the robustness and reliability of results, allowing researchers to trust and build upon the work. By enabling others to reproduce the findings, we promote the credibility and impact of published research.
4. Data Citation
Proper citation of datasets and data sources is essential to maintain academic integrity and acknowledge the contributions of original data creators. Authors are required to cite datasets in their manuscripts according to standard citation formats, which should be included in the manuscript’s reference list. This practice allows other researchers to trace the data and fosters collaboration by recognizing the contributions of those who created the data.
5. Evaluation Process
The editorial board and reviewers will assess the adherence to the data availability and reproducibility policy as part of the manuscript evaluation process. Authors may be asked to:
a. Provide additional documentation or clarification regarding the availability of data.
b. Submit supplementary details related to data reporting or methodology if needed to enhance transparency and reproducibility.
We are committed to ensuring that all published research complies with these standards to maintain the credibility and quality of the journal.
6. Policy Updates
This policy will be periodically reviewed to ensure it aligns with the latest practices in data sharing, reporting, and reproducibility. Any revisions to the policy will be communicated to authors and will be made publicly available on the journal's website. We remain committed to evolving our practices in line with global standards and to supporting the integrity of scientific publishing.
