Abstract

Engineering innovation and sustainable technology have become essential drivers of sustainable development in response to global challenges such as climate change, resource depletion, and increasing energy demand. This study aims to review recent advances and emerging trends in engineering innovation through a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) of peer-reviewed articles published between 2023 and 2025. The findings indicate that the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT), digitalization, renewable energy technologies, sustainable materials, and smart manufacturing has significantly improved engineering efficiency while reducing environmental impacts. These innovations contribute to resource optimization, energy efficiency, and low-carbon industrial development. However, challenges such as high implementation costs, infrastructure limitations, technological integration, and policy uncertainties continue to hinder widespread adoption. Overall, engineering innovation and sustainable technology play a vital role in supporting environmentally responsible engineering practices and sustainable industrial development. This review provides valuable insights for researchers, engineers, industry practitioners, and policymakers in advancing sustainable engineering solutions.
